What happens if the item costs more than my balance?

Your card can only be used up to the amount available on it—so if your purchase costs more than your balance, you’ll need to cover the difference first.

Many retailers (at their discretion) allow part-payment. If they do, you can pay the extra amount using another method, then use your card to pay the remaining balance. Just make sure the final amount charged to your card doesn’t exceed your available funds.

Note: Part-payment isn’t available for online purchases, so it’s best to check your balance before checking out.
